Quick answer
Do BMW, Audi and Bentley use Mercedes-Benz AIRMATIC?
No. AIRMATIC is a Mercedes-Benz name. Audi, BMW and Bentley use their own air suspension technologies and control systems. Similar components and symptoms do not make parts or diagnostic procedures interchangeable. Confirm the exact model, year and suspension equipment before selecting a repair.
Identify the fitted system before choosing parts
Air suspension supports the vehicle on pressurised air and can provide automatic height control. Some systems combine it with electronically adjustable damping. The number of air-equipped axles, spring and strut layout, pressure supply and control functions depend on the vehicle.
A familiar model badge is not enough to identify that equipment. Model year, variant and specification matter, particularly where air suspension was optional. Similar sagging or warning messages across different brands do not establish the same diagnosis.
Mercedes-Benz AIRMATIC
AIRMATIC is available on selected Mercedes-Benz models and specifications. Depending on the vehicle, it provides automatic ride-height control and electronically adjustable damping. Equipment must be confirmed for the exact model and production year.
A warning or low corner can lead to checks of air struts, separate air springs, pressure supply, valve operation, height sensors and electrical control. A dashboard AIRMATIC message does not by itself confirm absorber or compressor failure.
Mercedes-Benz also uses other suspension technologies, including hydraulic and active body-control systems. These should not be assumed to use the same parts or procedures as AIRMATIC. For an inspection enquiry at Sri Kuching, provide the model, year and warning so the workshop can confirm the appropriate assessment.
BMW self-levelling and air suspension
BMW uses air suspension and electronic height control on selected models, including certain X5, X6, 7 Series and Touring variants, depending on specification. The suspension arrangement must be checked for the particular vehicle.
On vehicles equipped with rear air suspension, a rear end that drops after parking may involve spring leakage, connections, valve control, pressure supply or height information. A warning does not automatically mean both the springs and compressor need replacing.
Sri Kuching’s BMW X5 F15 record documents failed rear air springs and a worn compressor pump in that specific vehicle. Both were replaced, followed by pressure testing, calibration and verification. It is a recorded example rather than a repair prescription for every X5.

Audi uses adaptive air suspension on selected vehicles, including A8 and certain Q7 and Q8 variants. The system combines air springs, controlled damping and ride-height adjustment; availability and configuration depend on the model and equipment.
A low corner, uneven height, suspension warning or abnormal ride can lead to investigation of the struts, air supply, valves, sensors and electrical control. Diagnosis should distinguish lost air pressure from poor damping performance.
The Sri Kuching Audi A8 case records front air strut replacement, system inspection and ride-height recalibration. Its historical title uses “Front Airmatic Absorber Replacement”. That wording is retained on the source record, but it does not mean the Audi uses Mercedes-Benz AIRMATIC.
Bentley electronically controlled air suspension
Selected Bentley Continental, Flying Spur and Bentayga models use electronically controlled air suspension for comfort and height control. Components and procedures differ across generations, so the precise vehicle matters.
A Bentley that leans at one corner or fails to maintain height may have a strut, air leak, pressure supply, valve or electronic fault. Single-corner sag should not automatically be treated as compressor failure.
The documented Bentley Continental Flying Spur at Sri Kuching had absorber failure at the affected corner. Its record includes air strut replacement, recalibration and verification, with stable height control confirmed on the subsequent road test.

Selected Porsche Cayenne and Panamera, Range Rover and Land Rover, Volkswagen Touareg, Lexus and other vehicles may use air suspension or air-based self-levelling, depending on year and specification. Hydraulic, adaptive damping and air systems should not be treated as interchangeable descriptions.
A shared symptom does not establish shared diagnostic equipment, replacement parts or repair procedures. Sri Kuching’s linked records here document BMW, Audi and Bentley work. Owners of other vehicles can contact the Taman Mastiara workshop with their exact vehicle details to discuss whether an inspection can be arranged.
Frequently asked questions
Is every Mercedes-Benz suspension system AIRMATIC?
No. Suspension equipment varies by model, year and specification. Mercedes-Benz uses several technologies, and a vehicle may have conventional, air, hydraulic or other active suspension equipment. Confirm the fitted system before selecting parts or a diagnostic procedure.
Does every BMW X5 or Audi Q7 have the same air suspension?
No. Equipment can vary by generation and specification. The model name alone does not establish the air suspension layout, parts or procedures. The workshop needs the exact vehicle details and inspection findings.
Why does the Audi A8 workshop case use the word Airmatic?
The original workshop record calls the replaced parts front Airmatic absorbers. This guide retains that case title for continuity while using Audi’s adaptive air suspension terminology. AIRMATIC is a Mercedes-Benz name, not the manufacturer name for Audi’s system.
